Biography
Alejandro "Alex" Sanchez is a husband, father of two, and honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran who has proudly called Miami Lakes home since 2007. During his four years of service aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, he led teams of 25+ sailors, managed budgets, and executed high-stakes operations—skills he has carried into every role since.
After the Navy, Alex continued serving the public through the Transportation Security Administration and the Social Security Administration, deepening his commitment to fairness, professionalism, and community. In Miami Lakes, he served as Chair of the Veterans Committee, delivering landmark achievements including the Veterans Memorial at Town Hall, the county’s longest-running Veterans Day Parade, and the town’s first Veterans-only career fair.
In January 2025, Alex was appointed to the Miami Lakes Town Council by the incoming mayor—and is now running to earn that seat in his first election. Currently pursuing graduate studies in Public Administration at the University of Miami, he remains focused on responsible, community-centered municipal leadership. He is guided by one mission: to ensure Miami Lakes remains a safe, beautiful, and thriving community where families can put down roots and build a future.

Youth Volunteer Program
Established a Youth Volunteer Program connecting Miami Lakes high school students with meaningful civic engagement opportunities within the Town
Traffic Mitigation Solutions
Developed and implemented traffic mitigation solutions to improve safety and reduce congestion during dismissal hours at Bob Graham Education Center.
Secured Town Funding for the Community
Secured state appropriations from Tallahassee to fund a traffic flow construction project at Bob Graham Education Center, providing long-term relief for families and the surrounding community.
Tree Maintenance Program
Launched a Tree Maintenance Program providing residents relief from overhanging limbs encroaching on private property.
Strengthened Privacy Protections
Championed an amendment to Ordinance 13-1509 to strengthen privacy protections for residents on corner lots.
Enforced Town Ordinances
Initiated a framework to enforce Town ordinances that fall outside the current jurisdiction of Code Enforcement Officers.
Improved Regional Connectivity
Presented a formal resolution to Senator René Garcia in support of developing on-ramps to I-75 at the NW 170th Street Bridge to improve regional connectivity.
Supported Mental Health Awareness
Spearheaded a community-wide 988 Mental Health Awareness signage campaign in partnership with the Miami Lakes Mental Health Task Force.
Protected Taxpayer Dollars
Introduced a fiscal accountability resolution requiring the Town to initiate procurement processes when contract renewal prices increase by 3.01% or more, protecting taxpayer dollars.
Champion for Local Veterans
Championed the Veterans Committee Honor Wall Project, set to be installed at Veterans Park as a lasting tribute to those who served.
Strengthened the Community
Built a centralized sponsorship database connecting local businesses with Town event sponsorship opportunities, strengthening community partnerships.

Initiated the establishment of a designated school zone at Miami Lakes Educational Center to enhance student safety.
